Horti residences

The project for Horti residences that was launched in 2015 for BNP Paribas upgrades an abandoned area in the Porta Romana district of Milan and transforms it into a residential centre set in a large public garden. The intervention envisages the restructuring of the large 19th-century Villa, a religious building located at the centre of the park, bringing out its original features in a residential vein; the restoration of the two historic buildings known as Lavanderia and Casello; the construction of small independent urban villas that recall the Milanese architecture on Via Orti; a newly constructed building in Via Lamarmora, with large glazed surfaces and modern finishes that hosts the most contemporary apartments. The total is around 80 residences. Many apartments are free-standing, with revival of the atmospheres of the past through the use of materials recalling it. The characteristic element of Horti is the park, preserved in its historical characteristics as the green lung of the urban area: a 10,000 m2 park, the original plan of which will be restored by showcasing the tree species present, conserving the tall-stemmed plants, such as Lebanese cedars and lindens, will also contain a historical garden measuring around 2,000 m2, which will be open to the public at pre-established times and days. The historical Garden is inspired by the medieval idea of the hortus conclusus, an area once used for the cultivation of medicinal plants.
