Politeama Piceno

Thanks to the initiative and patronage of Franco Moschini and to his Foundation, the historic Cinema Teatro Piceno has been converted into a cultural centre devoted to the performing arts. Inaugurated in May 2017 with a rich calendar of events, the Politeama is a vibrant place, devoted to the people of Tolentino and, in particular, to the young people who can develop their talents here. The project has transformed the internal space of the theatre, which had been abandoned for many years. Having eliminated the two floors, a central foyer has been opened up on a number of levels and is crowned by a glazed roof through which natural light filters. This space, the heart of the new Politeama, is characterised by the oak of its wall coverings and by the stone of its floors, realised using the Venetian “terrazzo” flooring technique. The original staircase has been retained, but joined by a new panoramic glass elevator. The foyer also hosts a cafeteria in Viennese style with furnishings...

The foyer also hosts a cafeteria in Viennese style with furnishings by Wiener GTV Design and suspension lights by Produzione Privata.
On the ground floor a large multi-purpose room has been created, levelling the floor of the old auditorium. The room is endowed with technical parquet and mobile panels that allow the space to be divided into two environments for conducting various activities, from dance classes to conferences.
The Spectacle Room, with a large stage and cinema equipment, is a double volume that is open between the first and second floors. Arranged along the tiers are 170 Politeama armchairs, designed ad hoc with curved beechwood arms and upholstered seats covered in blue fabric.
On the first floor there is the Audiovisual Room with capacity for seating 35. The room is endowed with high-quality video equipment and is insulated acoustically. The large windows make it well-lit, while the special curtains allow the windows to be darkened for film projections.
The basement, previously unused, has been divided into three rehearsal rooms for music, singing and theatre, with glass walls and acoustically insulated.
The project is intended to maintain the historical character of the building thanks to the careful restoration of the external façades and the upgrading of the medieval walls left exposed in the basement.
The new centre guarantees the best acoustic conditions and offers the high-standard technical solutions that are necessary for performance art events.
