Following the transformation of the company structure of Poste Italiane in 1998, the new management commissioned the development of an integrated project for the modernisation of post offices, both from the point of view of the company image and with a view to the technological updating of the counters and back office, equipping them with new electronic instrumentation. So a design for the interiors was developed to upgrade the environmental standards, starting with the redefinition of the main counter, which has replaced the old, rather unpleasant reinforced screens. The new counter, which does not envisage a glass separation between the clerk and the customer, is composed of a front reception element and a back panel of cabinets, conceived as a single standardised module that is easy to produce, store and install.
