Calicantus Café

The city’s new park hosts a small piece of architecture for use as a cafeteria, made completely of larch wood as regards the supporting skeleton, flooring and curtain walls, while the roof is composed of an insulating pack and covered with aluminium sheeting. The pavilion (7 x 7m in plan, height 4.2m) was prefabricated in the workshop and assembled on site on precise anchorage plinths to facilitate its possible future removal. The vertical elements of the external curtain wall have irregular sections and are positioned at varying intervals with slight inclinations to be camouflaged amid the stems of the surrounding trees. Along the internal perimeter, the walls and glass access doors are mounted on a metal frame. The service area is delimited by plasterboard partitions. The structure is accessible and usable by people with disabilities in all its parts.
