Domestic Structures collection
Domestic Structures is a limited-edition collection of objects, lamps and furnishings. A walnut wood bench and table, a bronze lamp, three jewellery boxes made of precious metal with a skill that is reminiscent of the works of the Renaissance masters. They are curvy, sophisticated objects, almost sculptures, which evoke natural forms marked by the regular rhythm of geometrical motifs, triangles, rhombuses and undulating lines that form very intricate structures. Michele De Lucchi declares: “Society is facing unprecedented levels of change that surprise even the most open minds. New lifestyles are revolutionising social organisation, introducing original ways of thinking and behaving. Yet a certain concern has been spreading over the loss of our age-old roots, and many of us ask ourselves if life in the future will actually be better. As we wait to discover this, architects and designers have been experimenting with alternative solutions for furniture, furnishings and various items of equipment to anticipate – if possible – the houses of the future. Domestic Structures is a mental thrust in this direction and has the purpose of consolidating the idea that these are always structures, because without structures nothing is sustained and because structures are always also beautiful, an integral part of any object, whether small or large, and of any reasoning, whether timid or bold. The fact, then, that these structures concern the things that are simplest and closest, the most trivial and intimate, comes as no surprise, since it is in the management of our small private world that we learn to organise the large public world. Domestic structures are very worthwhile”.
