Mostra “Moda in Italia. 150 anni di eleganza”

Organised on the occasion of the celebrations for the 150^th anniversary of the Unification of Italy in the recently upgraded display environments of the Sale delle Arti in the Reggia di Venaria, the exhibition tells of a century and a half of the history of fashion in Italy, from 1861 until the phenomenon of the so-called “Made in Italy”. 200 models are on display, including authentic clothes belonging to historical personalities who have marked the evolution of taste and famous stage clothes manufactured for popular movies. Mirrors mounted on large fir wood self-supporting frames display the clothes in all their parts. Each room is devoted to a decade and the parade is concluded in the former theatre of the Reggia, fitted out for a high-fashion parade of new collections. The frames, like scaffolding at a worksite, allude to a set that will be dismantled at the end of the event, leaving the architecture of the building intact.
