Pala Expo Venice

The 10,000 m2 fair pavilion stands beside the Vega technological science park, in the former industrial area of Porto Marghera. The position is strategic: it is located at the start of Ponte della Libertà, along the road/rail axis leading to Venice. The area overlooks the Canale Brentelle and the pavilion can also be reached via water. The structure is raised and stands on a large parking platform. It has a rounded, symmetrical shape, generated by the intersection of soft rays of curvature and defined externally by a white plate covering laid with a pleated effect. The main entrance is the one on the land-sea diagonal and corresponds to the edge of the roundabout that routes the traffic between Via Pacinotti and Via Ferrari. You arrive at the level of the Pavilion along the escalators and elevators, which are protected by a long tensile canopy structure. The interior is a large exhibition room, free and flexible, which can host a number of events at the same time. The space is...

The space is characterised by a roof consisting of a white reticular structure that is supported at the centre by just four pillars. The walls are covered in acoustic wood and comfort is guaranteed by a lighting design and air conditioning system that distributes heat, coolness and light into the whole environment. Created on the occasion of Aquae Venezia 2015 – the exhibition devoted to water that was collateral to Expo Milano 2015 – the building remains for the city to welcome fairs, exhibitions and cultural and sporting events.
