“Tintoretto” exhibition
The exhibition places together two elements that characterise Tintoretto’s personality: the first is 16th-century Venice, the second is the artist’s studio. The characteristic cornice in "Sansovino" style – typical of the buildings of the period – is thus blended with the trestles and with the white canvases, tilted as though they were resting against the walls, which bear the explanatory texts for the various sectors of the exhibition. The choice of trestles has a double technical value: first of all, it resolves a specific problem associated with works of large dimensions, avoiding the height limit imposed by the structure of the Stables at the Quirinale, where the small vaults reduce the spaces for displaying on the perimeter walls.
