The desire to explore new creative territories by fostering an open and innovative approach to the designer’s freedom of expression gives rise to TESEO, the new RODA dining collection designed by AMDL CIRCLE, the studio founded by Michele De Lucchi. The collection, consisting of table and dining chair, stands out for its unique tailored detailing, which connects the teak slats with a continuous stitching of cord, in a masterful combination of artisan tradition, industrial efficiency and technological innovation. ‘Sewing’ wood as a design solution is a practice that the studio has been carrying out for some time, and which has found a new application in the encounter with Roda. Roda cord in shades of grey is treated with a water-based surface process, which not only makes it suitable forsewing and insertion between the slats of the table but also, makesitsmoother and even more resistant to wear and tear. With its faceted sides and continuous stitching on all the slats, the chair has an original and modern character, fully expressing the fusion of craftsmanship and industrialisation, experimentation and mass production: as works of art seemingly made individually, the chairs are actually the result of a precise production process using state-of-the-art technologies. Similarly, the approach to the table was meticulously researched in order to achieve a balance between the sewn and un-sewn slats, creating ease of use and maintenance over time, while also enhancing the concept of the project. Teseo is a collection of distinctive outdoor furniture which tells a story of passion, commitment and timeless creativity.
