Alessi concept store at Harrods

Inside the historic Harrods luxury department store in London, AMDL CIRCLE has designed the Alessi concept store: this is a small jewel to highlight the uniqueness of the brand’s products. Located on the basement floor of the Harrods Arcade, in a strategic position between the Egyptian stairway and the bookshop, the shop occupies an area of 30 m 2 , which has been completely redesigned to showcase a selection of over 200 products. The coffee makers, kettles, music boxes and the other iconic objects are arranged along the wall shelves, framed by oblique partitions in the characteristic British green colour alternating with mirrored vertical separators, paying homage to Alessi’s metalcraft. At the centre of the space there is a spacious designer table hosting a display case for the smaller, more precious items. Completing the space is a shelving tower, positioned in the front display case of Harrods Arcade and devoted to the seasonal collection. Taking up the symmetries and the...

Taking up the symmetries and the green of the shelves, the two furniture items are placed in visual continuity with the  environment.
The various finishes, the rhythm of the joints and the interplay of reflections give rise to a structured and dynamic concept store: through multiple perspectives, compositions of objects and overlappings of ever new lines and colours are observed, which influence the visual perception and stimulate the mind. As Michele De Lucchi states, “The meaning of the objects changes with the perspective. The perspective is not just a vision but the creation of new horizons”.
