Estense cupboard

Estense is a walnut heartwood cupboard with three doors, nine asymmetrical shelves and a number of perimeter listels that create an interplay of solids and voids: an outline that does not want to be a separating boundary between inside and outside, but rather a space of connection. The very tall structure – 2.6 metres – is inspired by the Medea Tower designed by AMDL CIRCLE in Batumi. As with the Georgian hotel, in fact, the vertical development arises from the concept of offset overlapping of the volumes. The result is a zigzag-like dynamic form, though consisting of orthogonal elements.
