Leaveitbe
Today, the space we are able to free up is much more important than what we build because we have crossed the boundary between anthropogenic mass and biomass. By taking responsibility for the health of the planet, we should be able to define where the limits to human activity should be. When we ask ourselves what we should all do or not do in order to protect space, reduce land use and think about a new direction for the planet, we respond with Leaveitbe, a circle drawn on the ground to define an inner area that will no longer be impacted and transformed by humankind. This idea corresponds to the need to recognise space as the substance of everything we do as designers, because it is space that confers value to objects, architecture and human relationships. Our end goal is saving and preserving space, be it natural and wild or already anthropomorphic.
Leaveitbe is a space that must be left untouched and which is self-regenerating in its relation to the context. The decision to produce it is an act of shared responsibility, an expression of working together – of those who design it and those who create it – both players in a symbolic gesture to protect space. Abandoning an anthropocentric perspective, Leaveitbe attests to the act of releasing and emancipating nature, space and the flow of life.
