“Evanescent Walls” exhibition

At Fuorisalone 2023, AMDL CIRCLE presents a reflection on the concept of the wall. A wall is not necessarily a hard and impenetrable surface, “a boundary that is impervious to the eyes and mind”, but can also be a malleable element, one that can be processed into many forms with many different materials. In the exhibition Evanescent Walls, the Circle presents concrete applications of materials that it considers are complementary to design, such as light and shadow, solids and voids, material and sensory awareness. The exhibition space of the studio becomes a rhythmic play of textures which adorn the walls, creating a scenography that is both container and content. The distinctive elements of the studio’s projects - the glass shingles of the OpenZone Towers in Bresso, the rhomboid elements of the multimedia facade of the Novartis Pavillon in Basel, the braided wires of “Buccellati Rosso Maraviglia” in Milan - are all decontextualized and reduced to their elemental nature...

The distinctive elements of the studio’s projects – the glass shingles of the OpenZone Towers in Bresso, the rhomboid elements of the multimedia facade of the Novartis Pavillon in Basel, the braided wires of “Buccellati Rosso Maraviglia” in Milan – are all decontextualized and reduced to their elemental nature to illustrate the varietal forms of the “evanescent walls”.
For the Circle, the “evanescent walls” are architectures formed of textures, dynamic compositions – double skins, sewn woods, shingles, filtering walls – that are able to generate interconnected spaces, boundaries that seek not to divide but to unite, linking the functions of the environments and the emotions experienced by those who live them and give them soul.
They are elements that circumscribe spaces but which are permeable, like the membranes of cells, which absorb inputs from the outside and process them on the inside.
Designing “evanescent walls” means emptying the material, enhancing the layers from which it is constituted and adjusting the degree of transparency and permeability according to the intended use. Undertones and shadings provide space for what is not there, that which lies beyond, establishing a connection between the environments.
Made by Produzione Privata and inspired by wefted architectures, the modular screens of the Muri evanescenti collection contribute to building an idea of permeable and shared space, guiding the pathway through the exhibition.

Unexpected scenarios are formed between the wefts of the “evanescent walls”, arousing curiosity and stimulating a voyage of discovery.
