L’anello mancante installation

L’anello mancante , an installation created for MAXXI Architettura of Rome, is a circular corridor consisting of acrylic stone shingles. The interplay of light and shade that is generated between the fissures in the structure enriches the visitors’ experience, giving rise to a mutable and evocative space, a sort of tunnel that starts at one point, is elongated into a wide curve and returns almost to the point of departure. L’anello mancante metaphorically represents the path of the reasonings of the human mind, the thought that starts from an idea and then weaves its way among the necessary motivations to demonstrate a thesis that, ultimately, is always very close to but never entirely corresponding to the point of departure. Going through L’anello mancante conveys the sensation of conducting an introspective exploration, where it is the very act of walking that activates thought and fires the imagination. L’anello mancante [The missing Llnk], an installation created for MAXXI Architettura of Rome, is a circular corridor consisting of acrylic stone shingles. Along the way, between one shingle and the next, light filters into the installation while the gaze can go out towards the external space. All around everything appears ambiguous: the relationship is ambiguous between inside and outside, light and shade, hidden and revealed, private and public. The proportions are ambiguous, since when you enter you have a dimensional perception that cannot be grasped from outside. In the context of the exhibition room, the corridor appears rather small, but as you proceed inside it everything seems amplified. The ogival section of the wall creates an enclave effect, like a kind of inverted basin that projects thought upwards instigating a continuous reflection.
