Upgrading of Teodora Enel Plant

In the early years of the new millennium, the technological adaptation of Enel power stations – converted from oil and/or coal combustion to methane – has involved the renovation of the image and an upgrading of the environmental impact of power plants. The one at Porto Corsini in Ravenna is a historical plant designed in the late 1950s by Ignazio Gardella. New offices with a long undulating glass façade have replaced the pre-existing ones, which had been too often altered and deteriorated over time to be restored. Furthermore, it became necessary to demolish half of the old machine room, where only two of the original turbines have been conserved and are operational. New additions, on the other hand, are the twin two production structures, aligned with the tall chimneys, each consisting of a steam generator and a building for alternators and turbines. A third of the chimneys is covered with Lexan rings and, in the lower part, they are lined with a secondary structure that...

New additions, on the other hand, are the twin two production structures, aligned with the tall chimneys, each consisting of a steam generator and a building for alternators and turbines. A third of the chimneys is covered with Lexan rings and, in the lower part, they are lined with a secondary structure that envelops the generator in steam up to its connection with the turbogas building.
To integrate the installations into the landscape, one colour plane has been applied that is inspired by the tones of the earth for the low structures and one similar to the sky for the higher ones.
